Spatula's Flight of Hope: Spatula Hummingbird is a poignant acrylic painting that not only captivates the eye but also delivers a powerful message about the delicate balance of nature. This stunning artwork showcases the enchanting Marvelous Spatula tail, a rare hummingbird teetering on the brink of extinction due to the encroachment of deforestation for the cultivation of marijuana and coffee plantations. The male of the species is further imperilled by the unjust hunt for its heart, believed to possess mythical aphrodisiac properties.

Carefully crafted on canvas with soft hues of sage and beige, allows the Marvelous Spatula to take centre stage. In an uplifting motion, the bird is captured in mid-flight, displaying its majestic splendour. The iridescent feathers adorning the Spatula's plumage glisten and catch the viewer's eye from various angles, making each viewing a unique and enchanting experience.

The soothing and calming shades of green in this artwork evoke a sense of harmony with nature, while the symbolism of the hummingbird further underscores the painting's message. The hummingbird, known for its delicate beauty and agile grace, is a symbol of endurance, resilience, and the need to protect the world's most vulnerable species.

This piece is not just a work of art; it's a call to action, a reminder of the urgency to preserve our planet's biodiversity. With this painting, you bring into your space not only a beautiful and unique piece but also a conversation starter and a tangible connection to the natural world, reminding us of our responsibility to protect and preserve the marvellous creatures we share this Earth with.

Hummingbirds are renowned as fierce defenders of their territory, embodying their resilience and tenacity. They are regarded as symbols of good fortune, signifying auspicious events before important undertakings, such as travelling.

About the Artist

I'm Samantha, a contemporary abstract realism artist from the southwest of the UK. My childhood in a sea fishing family, full of wildlife enthusiasts has instilled in me a lifelong fascination with the coastline. Bliue and green spaces.

When I'm not engrossed in my painting, you can find me paddle boarding, indulging in wild swimming, or going on walks with my faithful companion, Netty the Boarder Terrier.~My ArtIn my art I look to capture the mesmerising beauty of the natural world; directing my focus towards the natural energies and the profound connection we share with wildlife.

To infuse life into my work, I manipulate an intricate interplay of colour, shadows, light, and movement. I often incorporate things that I find in nature to replace traditional painting equipment, such as feathers and shells - giving me a deeper sense of connection with the natural world.Using a blend of mixed media, I employ bold, contrasting, and precise colours, often using visible brushstrokes, and broken lines. When working with watercolours and inks, I use vibrant hues and fluid marks to convey my vision.

Each of my pieces is crafted with the intention of exuding a sense of freshness to captivate viewers, and seamlessly harmonise with both contemporary and traditional settings
