About Samantha Frances

Hi, I’m Sammie — an optimist, a nomadic Impressionist Realism artist, and a military spouse, constantly on the move with my husband’s career. Life has been full of adventure, but no matter where I go, the southwest coast of the UK has always felt like my spiritual home. There’s something about its rugged beauty, sea air, and ever-changing light that grounds me and fuels my creativity.

I grew up on the southeast coast of England in a family of fishermen and women, where beach days weren’t just summer outings — they were a way of life. From early morning tides to long walks combing the shore, I spent countless hours outside. The sea was always close, and so was a deep respect for nature and its rhythms. That upbringing shaped not only who I am but how I see the world — with wonder, gratitude, and always a splash of colour.

As a wildlife artist, I’m completely drawn to the magical, colourful world beneath the waves. The underwater world is full of life, movement, and mystery — and it’s a constant muse for me. My work celebrates the energy, emotion, and connection we share with wildlife, both on land and in the sea.

I work in mixed media, often using natural tools like feathers and shells to apply paint. My pieces are full of bold colours, expressive brushstrokes, and flowing marks, aiming to reflect the soul of each creature. I often weave in touches of metallics and gold, using light and colour to evoke emotion and joy.

When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me out in nature — wild swimming, exploring new coastal corners, or walking with my wonderful Border Terrier, Netty.
