This one started with a real peacock feather propped up in my studio. I became completely absorbed by the detail of it — the way the eye sits at its centre, the delicate filaments fanning out around it, the extraordinary range of colour held within a single plume. I wanted to capture all of that in paint, close up and unhurried. The result is an intimate, almost meditative piece — golden ochre warming the background, gold leaf catching beneath the surface, and that iconic eye rendered in iridescent pigment at its heart. A quiet piece that rewards a closer look.
